SEC and CFTC Extend Form PF Effective/Compliance Date
Published: 30 January 2025
On January 29, 2025, the SEC and CFTC announced that they were extending the effective/compliance data for the pending Form PF changes from March 12, 2025 to June 12, 2025. According to the news release: "This extension will mitigate certain administrative and technological burdens and costs associated with the prior compliance date. This extension will also provide more time for filers to program and test for compliance with these amendments." All December 31 fiscal year end filers will all therefore be making their upcoming filings on the existing form rather than the new one.
AIMA wrote multiple times to the SEC and CFTC requesting an extension, first until at least May 1 and later, with other associations and following up on our own, to as late as September 12. The extension granted is well within that range and should mitigate some of the difficulties filers were facing and will leave additional time for the technical specifications to be finalized and tested, for the SEC staff to potentially publish further FAQs and for firms to finish their system builds and testing following the busy financial statement and financial reporting season.
