AIMA is the global industry body for alternative investment managers with a specific focus on hedge funds and private credit managers. Headquartered in London, with offices internationally, we represent the industry to key stakeholders globally including policymakers and regulators, investors, the media and the public. We have over 2,000 corporate members across more than 60 countries and run more than 200 events annually for our members around the world.

Role:

The Event Manager will work closely with the Global Head of Events to strategically and effectively plan, manage and execute the EMEA events programme.

Duties:

  • To support and deputise the Global Head of Events with the strategy and the development of events offering
  • Take responsibility for end-to-end event management of over 70 events a year including conferences, seminars, networking events, round table discussions, and webinars, from conception to completion under the guidance of the Global Head of Events
  • Demonstrates expertise in event production, supplier negotiation, event contracting, logistics, and delegate management
  • Provide support to the AIMA team globally on the structure, content, and implementation of events
  • Efficiently manage the registration process and bookings for AIMA events using in-house systems (CRM / AIMA website)
  • Design and creating visual event collateral and marketing content that can be used across multiple channels including events, social media, website content, video content, email campaigns, and other marketing
  • Prepare, design and continuously improve relevant event collateral
  • Assist with tracking event budgets, invoices, and financial reporting to ensure cost-effective delivery
  • Attend, manage and take responsibility for events on-site whilst representing AIMA
  • Maintain statistics on event attendance and feedback and produce metrics post-event along with a consolidated global events metrics report as well as analysing delegate feedback and industry trends to make recommendations for future events.
  • Maintain and update relevant documentation and materials including the events calendar, events workflow and global events master lists
  • Implement promotion of events through the website and other marketing channels
  • Collaborate with members to plan and deliver AIMA events, building strong relationships that enhance member engagement, support sponsorship opportunities, and strengthen AIMA’s brand reputation
  • Research new event ideas and industry trends to keep up to-date knowledge on industry activity to strategically elevate events
  • Build a knowledge of venues and resources by attending industry relevant events and site visits on an on-going basis
  • Liaise with key senior stakeholders including Managing Directors, events speakers and sponsors and event partners.
  • Support internal company events when required including the staff summer and Christmas parties.
  • Collaborate closely with the Event Coordinator to manage and execute a busy programme of events.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Solid events experience (at least 3 years) in leading on event production within a professional service environment – financial services events experience preferable
  • Strong IT Skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases
  • Experience using email marketing software and design software e.g. DotDigital, InDesign, Canva, Vimeo
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Zoom, MS Teams, or other webinar/event software.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and oral
  • Excellent planning & organisational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst meeting constant deadlines and delivering under pressure
  • Ability to take full ownership of projects
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders and speakers to shape event agendas/programmes.
  • Good knowledge of London venues and excellent research skills
  • Flexible, proactive and accommodating attitude and a willingness to welcome responsibility.
  • Ability to travel as required (less than 10%).

This is a Fixed Term Contract (3-month probationary period) based in London with 23 days’ annual leave, pro-rated.

AIMA is a hybrid working environment with office hours of 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Ongoing eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is required.
