Head – Stressed Assets Strategy, Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors
Amit is a founding member of the stressed assets business in Edelweiss and has been instrumental in creating a leadership position for Edelweiss in this space in India. As the head of the stressed assets strategy in Edelweiss today, he oversees ~US$ 6.5bn of AUM.
Amit has close to 20 years of experience in stressed assets investments, origination, transaction structuring, turnaround & asset reconstruction. He is credited with several large & marquee investments as well as successful exits. He has led the turnaround of various portfolio assets including a large paper manufacturing company, large steel company, all weather port in South East India & a large retail mall in South Central India and many more. He works closely with top consulting firms, turnaround specialists and law firms to provide relevant insights from investor perspective to law makers so as to improve the efficacy of India’s Insolvency and Bankruptcy code.
Formerly, he has worked in the investment banking at Edelweiss, strategic business unit at ARCIL (India’s first ARC) and management consulting at PwC. Amit is an All-India Rank Holder Chartered Accountant and also has Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Lucknow University
