Shane Geraghty

Shane Geraghty is a partner at K&L Gates . He is located in the Dublin office and is a member of the Asset Management and Investment Funds practice. Shane advises domestic and international asset managers in relation to the structuring, authorization, and operation of a broad range of Irish fund vehicles (ICAVs / Designated Investment Companies / Investment Limited Partnerships / Unit Trusts) which are authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. He has particular experience in advising on alternative asset investment and private market fund structures for private credit and private equity strategies. He has also experience in dealing with fund financing arrangements and has advised credit institutions in relation to regulatory requirements in relation to such facilities. Shane has been involved in the establishment of numerous private credit funds for investment in US middle and lower middle-market loans, European middle-market lending strategies, including the use of co-investment and secondaries vehicles.

Shane has advised on the establishment and operation of Alternative Investment Fund Managers in Ireland and on a branch basis in other EU jurisdictions. He previously was seconded to act as internal legal counsel to a listed international private markets asset manager specializing in private credit. Shane has also advised on the structuring of private credit and private equity fund structure in the Cayman Islands having previously worked as a Cayman Islands attorney-at-law. Shane is active within the asset management and investment funds industry level and is currently a member of AIFMD Working Group within Irish Funds (the Irish funds industry representative body), the AIMA AIFMD Working Group and was previously a member of the Irish Funds Swiss Distribution Group and Hedge Fund Working Group.
