Zoom Room Drop-In - Let's discuss Imposter Syndrome!

Canada Insight from members

AIMA Canada is proud to present our first “Zoom Room” discussion of 2021. This will be the first of four events we plan to host quarterly this year.

Zoom Rooms are meant to be a drop-in session for a more informal conversation between members on a variety of professional development-type topics. We invite members to attend and contribute to authentic conversation by sharing your experience and perspective with others. This first Zoom room will discuss the topic of Imposter Syndrome, which is usually defined as a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their skills, talents or accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a "fraud".

Inspiration for the discussion might include sharing views on the following:

  • How imposter syndrome affects professionals in finance
  • Components of imposter syndrome: childhood experiences, society’s expectations, life-defining moments
  • Internal vs external expectations
  • Navigating and overcoming through these feelings
