APAC Fund Manager Briefing: Managing Human Rights Risk as Investors

Hong Kong Singapore China Japan Hong Kong Australia Risk management

AIMA APAC invites you to join our FMB webinar on 31 May 2022.

Investors are under pressure from regulators, shareholders, and beneficiaries to incorporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues in their portfolio management.  Meeting these expectations is a complex problem, requiring innovative thinking and proactive measures across a wide range of issues – including human rights.

In a ground-breaking and analogous application of this concept, FIFA adopted human rights risk assessments and risk management plans as part of its criteria for the North American cities vying to host matches in the 2026 World Cup.  The cities submitted their plans at the beginning of 2022, and on April 5 Clifford Chance and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights published a comprehensive analysis of their submissions.  FIFA's process and our analysis provide a valuable case study for investors seeking to apply human rights risk management principles in line with evolving expectations into their own decision making.

Join our industry experts and the AIMA team for an engaging discussion of FIFA's human rights risk management process, Clifford Chance and CSHR's assessment, and lessons to be drawn for investment managers.
