AIMA APAC Webinar: Australia’s New Regulatory Framework for Foreign Financial Services Providers

Australia Singapore China Japan Hong Kong Asia Pacific Licensing Relief

ASIC has released the details of its new regulatory framework for foreign financial services providers (FFSPs) providing financial services to Australian wholesale clients.

The new framework is outlined in ASIC’s updated Regulatory Guide 176 Foreign financial services providers (RG 176), and contains two elements:
  • A new foreign Australian financial services (AFS) licensing regime for FFSPs
  • Licensing relief for providers of funds management financial services seeking to induce some types of professional investors
This webinar will examine the new framework and discuss its implications for members that are looking to conduct regulated activities in Australia and those who have been relying on ASIC’s previous licensing exemptions for foreign providers.
